Standard Chartered Jersey Marathon 2024 Race Report

JSAC had a bumper turn out across all fields of the event, including four 5-person relay teams representing the club! Well done to all of our members who took part.

Relieved runners, volunteers and organizers were greeted by dry(-ish) overcast conditions on the morning of the race. As predicted by the forecast, the worst of the wind and rain had blown through over night. While the roads were slippery in places, the runners took it in their stride. Club member, James Oliver, even managed to bag a record, as the fastest islander to run the Jersey Marathon (02:31:53). Congratulations James!

Three of our “Tuesday runners” regulars who took on the full distance deserve a special mention for their achievements. Joan Inwood ran a great race and managed to smash her time from 2023 by 30minutes, finishing in 04:30:33. John MacPherson (aka PB John) also bagged a shiny new PB of 03:26:48 taking over 10minutes off his time from 2023. Brian Reade pushed ahead of Brenton Lee’s 3:30 “fun bus” to finish in an awesome 03:21:49.  Well done Joan, John and Brian. It’s great to see your dedication and consistency paying off.

James was not the only JSAC member to go home with silverware. Club members enjoyed success across all fields of the event, congratulations to all prize winners (listed below).
