One of our senior coaches, Cat Hallden, has been in the UK for a para sport camp called GAPS – Together as equals in partnership with the Commonwealth Games Federation, UK Sports, University of Birmingham.
GAPS stands for stands for Gather, Adjust, Prepare and Sustain.
In partnership. The first camp in our region was held in Birmingham prior to the 2022 Commonwealth Games. The camp Cat was attending was aimed at Para Powerlifting and Para Table Tennis.
Cat said: ‘For me it was to learn about the Para Powerlifting as I think that goes hand in hand with throwing. We also learned about trying to encourage people with disability/ impairment to get involved within Para Sport not our own sport but also educate us as coaches to look at potential athletes to help them to get involved.’
A great week of learning for Cat to bring back to the Club.
