List of times here.
Jon Coote and Sylvia Thompson were first home in the Jersey Spartan sunset trophy race recently. Over a four and three quarter mile mixed terrain course featuring sand dunes, railway walk and road. The runners made a slow cautious start from Le Braye with Dave Woodsford the early leader. However, Nick Gorrod unhappy with the slow pace pushed on ahead taking Gerry Toudic with him. Unfortunately Gorrod had veered off course enabling Coote to steer a quicker route up the dunes, taking several runners with him. The course suited Coote and he steadily pulled away to win in 30.06, also giving him the run of the day award. Gorrod was second reflecting on what might have been in 32.10, while Glenn Springate recorded his first ever top three finish in 33.07.
Senior Veteran Sylvia Thompson is in the best form of her life and this was reflected with her sunset trophy victory. Never headed 6th overall and first lady home in 34.05. Runner up was Ann Brien in 36.59 while Spartan stalwart Sue le Ruez was third in 38.14
The next J.S.A.C race is the Santander 5K at Sorel on Thursday 27th June at 6.30pm
