Andy Coughlan 10 miler
James Faudemer and Sylvia Thompson were the first man and woman home in the Andy Coughlan 10 mile memorial race held by Jersey Spartan Athletic Club at the weekend. The race was held in warm but cloudy conditions from Big Vern’s on the Five Mile Road to West Park.
Tennis star Faudemer served up a great performance to complete the course in first place in 57 mins 45 secs. Second home was Mark Gilmour in 58.20, with Robbie Campbell running 59.01 to gain third place.
In the women’s race Sylvia Thompson continued her impressive form. The 51 year-old ran a personal best time on the course and was a clear winner in 66.40. Thompson also won the “run of the day” award. Sam Horsfall was runner-up in 73.02, just ahead of Rebecca Guy who ran a time of 73.15.
The trophies were presented at the end of the race by the sponsors; Jimmy Hickey and the Lyons and Coughlan families.
The next JSAC event is the Sunset Trophy from Le Braye car-park at 6.30pm on Thursday 23rd July.
