2016 Trophy winners

This year the event is being organised by Phil Ahier, with a number of other club members participating in the organisation.

This is a beautiful course which flows from the FB Fields through Longueville into some country lanes and then gently up past Hougue Bie and to St Martin Primary School. From there on it is a flow down to Gorey & then along the Coast to le Hocq. Shortly after the route cuts back to the Club House and a few laps on the Track at FB Fields.               Course Map

The course has an active IAAF certified measurement & the race is licenced via Run Britain.

Runners braved some very strong winds to complete the Jersey Spartan Half Marathon on Sunday. With over 300 entries it was the largest number of starters for some years. Both the men’s and women’s titles were closely contested, both races concluding with sprint finishers.

In the men’s race Tom Perchard, last year's second place finisher, entered the track shoulder to shoulder with James Faudemer.  With about 300 metres to go, Perchard edged in front finishing just 8 seconds ahead of second place Faudemer.  Perchard winning time 1:16:43 and Faudemer 1:16:51 and third place went to Rory Johnson in a time of 1:22:03.

The women’s race was even closer.  Three women entered the track together and were separated by just 8 seconds over the finish line.  Philippa Worth, Claire Malzard and Vicky Barratt battled their way around the track with Worth just holding her lead with the other two women close on her heals.  Philippa Worth was victorious in 1:36:20, Claire Malzard second in 1:36:25 and Vicky Barrett third in 1:36:28.

The prize giving was held straight after the race in the clubhouse with Mark Wanless of Aztec presenting the awards.

Dear Runners

This years half marathon is due to take place on Sunday the 17 November 2013, 9am start.

Many of you may not know but this is my last year organising the Half.  I feel after 20 years of been involved with the organisation its time to put my pen away and swaping it for my trainers.

Spartans are looking for a new race organiser for the half and I am happy to work with my sucessor for the first year.  If you interested please let me know, my e-mail address is marymcgrath@jerseymail.co.uk.

I would like to thank all the people who have supported the race, either by running or helping out over the years, expecially my team, Jim Evans, Karen Grieve, Christine and Ronnie Ritchie, oh and I better not forget my partner Bernie Arthur, as without you guys there would not be race.

I Look forward to seeing you all again in November for hot soup or nibbles after the race.

Race Director

PS Race entry forms will be available soon but we do take entries up to the day before.
